In the saddle to boost scanner bid

A GROUP of friends will be cycling more than 75 miles to raise funds for a bladder scanner at the Alexandra Hospital.

Stuart Few and his brother Scott, will be riding from Birmingham to Oxford with Dan O’Grady, Chris Jeffery, Neil Stokes and Chris Stoneman, in a bid to boost funds for the League of Friends to purchase the equipment for Ward 2.

The men decided to take on the challenge in memory of Stuart and Scott’s father, Keith Few, who passed away in February due to complications related to diabetes.

The football fanatic was popular with residents after managing numerous teams including Studley Football Club under-15s, Feckenham Football Club under-15s, Alvechurch Football Club under-18s and Alvechurch reserve team.

Stuart said: “It’s to say thanks to the staff whose care for my dad and support for my mom Sue whilst he was ill was amazing and caring.

“Whilst he was ill staff were constantly battling with other wards to borrow equipment. They need a scanner and have their own bladder scanner appeal so we thought we would complete a sponsored event to contribute towards this simple yet important piece of equipment.”

While on the ride the team also hope to drum up extra support by wearing cycling jerseys with the charity’s logo on provided by Neil Jones who runs Neil Jones Digital TV Aerial Installations.
