MORE than 100 people enjoyed an evening with the Jamaican High Commissioner to mark Black History Month.
The Honourable Aloun Ndombet Assamba paid a visit to Redditch on Friday (October 24) as part of an event organised by Caribbean Roots Connection.
Mayor Pat Witherspoon, former mayor Madge Tillsley MBE and the commissioner all spoke during the evening at the Town Hall, which also included performances from the Redditch Community Gospel Choir, Nicole, Jasmine and Ben and poet Christine.
Borough council leader Bill Hartnett said: “The High Commissioner spent time going around the room meeting and speaking to many people in the room and she was presented with a gift by the mayor.
“We had over 100 people in the room, all enjoying a great night of entertainment.”
