THE Palace Youth Theatre presents their next show in July – His Dark Materials.

Based on the popular books by Philip Pullman and film The Golden Compass (2007), it tells a magical tale of a young girl, Lyra and her mysterious Uncle, Lord Asriel.

The story begins in Lyra’s Oxford – an Oxford very like the real one, but with strange differences like each person’s soul taking the form of an animal companion or ‘Daemon’.

When Lyra overhears her Uncle arguing with the religious authorities about mysterious ‘dust, she embarks on an incredible journey to the Arctic to try and discover the truth.

She meets the dangerously enticing Mrs Coulter and learns the secrets of the truth-telling Alethiometer. Along the way she encounters fantastical creatures in parallel worlds – armoured bears, flying witches and child-catching Gobblers.

Lizzi Tabberer, youth theatre and arts officer, said: “The group have been rehearsing really hard in preparation for putting on this magical, fantastical show. It is a true adventure story with some comedy and soul searching thrown into the mix. It will make a great family evening or afternoon out so book your tickets today!”

The show is at 7.30pm ffrom Thursday to Saturday, July 14-16, 2016 with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.
