VOLUNTEERS from a Redditch firm went out into the community to help overhaul the base of a Scout group.
Alcoa Fastening Systems staff visited the 1st Matchborough Scouts’ hut to carry out much-needed maintenance including redecorating the committee room and organising the store room as well as painting the building.
The Alcoa Foundation has also donated $1,500 to support new activities and equipment needed for camps and other sessions.
Managing director Paul Brown said: “Within the culture and values of Alcoa is a drive to give something back to areas of the community where its business operations are located to make a difference in the areas where we live and work.”
Harry Sargent, assistant cub scout leader, added: “Without the centre and the help of organisation such as Alcoa, the group would have difficulty putting on the events and activities we do for the 70 children who attend on a weekly basis.”
