A CHARITY which supports carers in the town has been given £3,000 to continue its vital work.

Carers Careline, which has helped informal and unpaid carers for the past 26 years, received the money from the Lloyds Community Fund competition.

The bank’s Redditch branch had been inviting residents to vote for four shortlisted good causes in return for a cash prize of either £3,000, £2,000, £1,000 or £500.

Carers Careline, a self-funded organisation supported by The Big Lottery Fund, Redditch Borough Council and other trusts, offers advice, signposting, training, telephone support, counselling and bereavement support.

Wendy Pickford, chief officer for the organisation, said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this funding, it will allow us to continue to provide this valuable support to Redditch residents. Thank you to everyone who supported us.”

For more information about Carers Careline call 01527 66177 or visit the Ecumenical Centre on Evesham Walk between 10am and 12pm, Monday to Thursday.
