MEMBERS of the Sunset Club stepped back in time recently when Derek Coombes of Redditch Local History Society dropped in to give a talk and slideshow on old Redditch at the town hall.

The Sunset Club for senior citizens is organised by the borough’s former Mayor Madge Tillseley who said: “We would like to thank Derek for a highly informative talk that brought so many memories back to so many people.”

The history society is currently working on its latest exhibition, on Redditch’s farms, to be held at Forge Mill Needle Museum at the end of October.

“Most of the districts of Redditch are named after old farms and within an eight to ten mile radius there was something in the order of 140 to 150 farms in the area,” he said.
