REDDITCH MP Karen Lumley has pledged her support for military action against Islamic State.
Mrs Lumley will return to Westminster tomorrow (Friday) after Prime Minister David Cameron recalled Parliament to seek permission for Britain to carry out air strikes against the group in Iraq.
Expressing her support for the Prime Minister, Mrs Lumley said she was sure her constituents will have been disgusted by the barbaric pictures of beheadings of innocent people.
“It is clear IS poses a direct threat to Britain and these people will only respond to strong military action, we should not turn away from what needs to be done,” she said.
“The Prime Minister has been asked by the Iraqi Government for help and any action taken would be legal. I am also satisfied that it is the right thing to do, particularly given that it does not involve British combat troops on the ground.”
