RESIDENTS needing medical assistance or advice over the bank holiday weekend are being encouraged to make sure they get the right kind of treatment.

A&E should be used for serious and life-threatening emergencies only and there are other options for people if they are unwell.

Minor conditions such as coughs and colds can be managedd with self-care at home, rest and staying hydrated.

Antihistamine tablets and nasal sprays are available for hay fever and other allergies and residents are being urged to ensure their medicine cabinets are well-stocked.

NHS 111 is available for people who need non-emergency medical help and advice and Minor Injury Units, such as the Princess of Wales Community Hospital in Bromsgrove, treats many conditions including minor burns, cuts and grazes and have short waiting times (average 20 minutes).

Many pharmacies will be open to ensure people across Worcestershire can get the help they need, when they need it.

On bank holiday Monday (May 30), Boots on Farmers Way, Kingfisher Walk, is open from 8.30pm to 5.30pm, Sainsbury’s Pharmacy on the Abbey Trading Estate from 8am to 7pm and Lloyds on William Street from 9am to 5pm.
