A GROUP of men will appear in court charged with a ram raid on a Redditch business.

More than £14,000 worth of boilers were stolen when a van was driven into the shutters of Graham The Plumbers’ Merchant in Washford Drive at 7.35pm on Tuesday (May 6). A number of men were seen loading property into the vehicle.

Shortly afterwards a member of the public reported seeing a van in suspicious circumstances. It was then stopped by an officer who was patrolling near by.

Five men from Wolverhampton were arrested at the scene in connection with the burglary and were taken to Worcester Police Station where they were charged with burgling the warehouse and stealing nine boilers worth £14,447.

Three of them, all in their 20s, were released on police bail to appear at Worcester Magistrates’ Court on Monday, June 2.

The other two, Jonathan Matthews, 44 and of Westcroft Avenue, and 49-year-old Robert Goodwin, of Orslow Walk, appeared before Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (May 8).

They were remanded in custody to appear at Worcester Crown Court on Monday, August 11.
