A MOTORCYCLIST was airlifted to hospital after being involved in a collision with a car near Alcester.

The man, in his 40s, was riding on the A46 near Haselor Hill when the incident happened just before 8am on Tuesday (February 17).

An ambulance, paramedic officer in a rapid response vehicle and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham attended the scene where the man was treated for head lacerations and back injuries.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “The motorbike was significantly damaged in the collision.

“The patient was immobilised using a neck collar and orthopaedic stretcher. He was also given pain relief before being airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”

A woman who was driving the car was assessed at the scene but did not require hospital treatment.

Both lanes of the A46 were closed for about an hour.
