REDDITCH’S MP fell hook, line and sinker as part of national fishing month.
Karen Lumley visited Arrow Valley Lake to learn more about the joys of fishing with John Bushell from Astwood Bank Angling Club as part of the month which celebrates fishing.
The event runs until Sunday, August 31 and is organised and led by the Angling Trades Association.
Mrs Lumley said: “I was pleased to meet with John and get a better understanding of why so many people from all walks of life enjoy fishing.
“I even had a go myself and was thrilled I managed to catch a fish. I think it is important people are encouraged to take part in outdoor activities and get to enjoy our outside spaces in different ways. “
She added it was extremely disappointing to hear about thieves who stole £50,000 worth of fish from Lodge Pool last Sunday (July 20).
“The knock-on effect of their selfish actions are huge and costly. I sincerely hope those involved are identified and brought to justice promptly as such actions must not go unpunished. I hope this does not discourage people from trying this fun and peaceful activity.”
