Music fine gives landlord headache

IT WASN’T music to the ears of a social club landlord when he was slapped with a fine for playing loud songs at a 50th birthday party.

Graham Allcott, who is the leaseholder for Easemore Social Club, was ordered to pay a total to the tune of £1,200 after failing to comply with a Noise Abatement Order.

The 44-year-old, who appeared at Redditch Magistrates’ Court on April 30, pleaded guilty to breaching the order in July last year after he played music later than 11pm.

Increasing noise from customers on the patio area at the front of the club and loud music from the function room at the back of the premises were among the reasons the ban was originally enforced in June last year.

The case came to light after officers from Worcestershire Regulatory Services used noise monitoring equipment.

The Walkwood Crescent resident was fined £600, ordered to pay £600 costs and a victim surcharge of £60.
