A STUDLEY fishing group has reeled in £750 for new equipment and a first aid kit.

Fun Fishing 4 All were given £750 by Coun Clive Rickhards who represents the area on Warwickshire County Council.

The money was part of his county council divisional funds which can be given to community groups, organisations and projects which benefit residents.

The group, which has 17 members including people with learning disabilities, used the money to buy fishing gear which included buckets, trousers and hoodies, as well as a first aid kit.

They wore the new clothing on a trip to Manor Farm Leisure in Evesham to celebrate member Philip Bojczuk’s 60th birthday where he was given a new carbon fishing rod.

Trevor Underwood, who runs the group, said everyone was over the moon with the new kit and it made them stand out on the lake.

Coun Clive Rickhards said the group did fantastic work and he was happy to support its work.

“They definitely provide community benefit to people and it is really important that groups such as this do continue to strive, particularly in times where local government is facing cuts.”
