REDDITCH foodbank has got a new manager.
Sarah Bartrum, who grew up in Winyates, has taken over from Helen Gallagher who set up the service and who is stepping down after two years helping people in need in the borough.
“It’s been a privilege to see the project through,” said Helen.
“There is such a large need here, and we’ve dealt with everything from a health crisis to some major family issues.”
And she added that the foodbank was uniquely placed to help people, and not just with a meal.
“Here we are ‘unofficial’ and we have space where we can listen, give people a cup of tea and point them to where other help is available,” she said.
Mrs Bartrum said she was determined to carry on Helen’s good work and hopefully reach out to help even more people.
“I want to keep serving the people of Redditch and to build on Helen’s really good work,” said the former teacher.
