LIBERAL Democrats are losing votes because Conservatives are taking the credit for what the coalition has achieved.
That was the verdict of Liberal Democrat candidate Hilary Myers as the final count took place in Redditch.
Ms Myers, who has been unwell throughout the campaign, said: “The Conservatives are doing better than Labour even though there has been five years of austerity.
“I think the Conservatives are getting the credit for what the coalition has achieved.”
Locally, she said as far as she could see it was going to be close between Conservative and Labour.
“I don’t expect given the national picture that were are going to poll very well.
“It’s a sad night for us. I had hoped after five years of poor local election results, they would give us another chance and recognised what we have done in government.”
She added: “If there’s another General Election, I’ll be back.”
