On a bicycle for two

YOU can’t beat a bicycle built for two and now have a go cyclists can rent a tandem as part of Goz’zard Bikes’ two-wheeled fleet.

Husband and wife duo, Marcus and Joyce Emerson, launched the company last year after requests for bike hire prompted them to branch out from their original bicycle repair shop in Alcester.

The couple set up the business building, repairing and servicing cycles from their purpose-built workshop and now offer a number of hybrid bikes, trailers, tagalongs and baby seats.

Marcus, a keen cyclist himself, said Alcester was proving to be a Mecca for the region’s cyclists.

“There has been a massive increase in the amount of people taking to the saddle, either to get fit or to enjoy the wonderful countryside we have around here,” he said.

The tandem joins ten Raleigh hybrid bikes available for daily or weekly hire and Marcus is keen to add more of the bicycles to his collection, providing those who try it enjoy the experience.

He said: “We use a tandem for the school run so we thought it would be a nice touch to offer that experience to our customers.”

The bike will be on display at Greig Hall on Saturday (May 2) from 9.30am to noon where Marcus will be carrying out free safety checks and free security marking for bicycles.
