FORMER Redditch beat bobby Anthony Bangham has been appointed as the new Chief Constable of West Mercia Police.
His nomination, by Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion was ratified by West Mercia’s Police and Crime Panel this afternoon (Tuesday, August 9) following a thorough, open and competitive recruitment process.
Mr Campion said: “An effective, efficient police service will be vital in achieving my vision for a safer West Mercia. There is a big challenge ahead to transform the force, making it more modern, responsive and visible. It will require exceptional leadership to lead the organisation through this process and make the most of new opportunities.
“I am confident that working with Anthony we will drive through these positive reforms that will undoubtedly benefit West Mercia’s officers and staff, and provide a better service to local communities as well”.
Chief Constable Anthony Bangham said: “It is a great privilege to be appointed as Chief Constable of West Mercia Police and I very much look forward to working with John in serving our communities right across the three counties.
“I have lived and worked in this area for the majority of my life and today I feel the same sense of pride that I felt 25 years ago when I first joined West Mercia as a Police Constable. I now look forward to taking on the challenges that we face and leading the fantastic police officers and staff who work so hard every day in delivering the highest quality policing service.”
