Outstanding grade is a first for town

A REDDITCH high school has become the first in the borough to be graded outstanding in every category.

RSA Academy Arrow Vale was given the official Ofsted rating following an inspection in March.

The categories included the achievement of students, quality of teaching, behaviour and safety of pupils, leadership and management as well as the promotion of spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.

Inspectors praised both staff and pupils, stating the quality of teaching was not only outstanding but behaviour in lessons was exemplary.

They added the school prepared pupils for the future ‘very well’.

Principal Guy Shears said: “I’m incredibly proud of the students and staff of Arrow Vale who work tirelessly to ensure everyone is valued and students excel.

“To be the first ever high school in Redditch to be graded outstanding is testament to the hard work and commitment of everyone within the Arrow Vale community.”

Arrow Vale is not the only successful school in the borough as Trinity High School and Sixth Form Centre has been crowned one of the best in the country for student progress at GCSE.

Data from the Department for Education revealed the Easemore Road school was in the top 20 per cent of schools nationally for progress made by pupils between their Key Stage 2 results at primary school and their GCSEs.

It means they have qualified for an SSAT Educational Outcomes Award which recognises the achievement.

Sue Williamson, chief executive of SSAT said: “Trinity High School and Sixth Form Centre should be congratulated for their exceptional achievement. They have proved themselves to be leading the field in improving GCSE outcomes for their students.”
