THE Palace Theatre in Redditch has been named as a finalist in the Visit Worcestershire Awards for Excellence 2016.

The Alcester Street venue is one of three nominated in the Best Festivals & Events (Commercial) category and is up against heavyweight contenders the Sunshine Festival of Upton Upon Severn and the Royal Horticulture Society Malvern Spring Festival of Malvern.

However the Palace can more than hold its own, being an absolute gem of an Edwardian theatre, popular with TV crews and show-goers alike due to its classical good looks, intimate surroundings and unbeatable atmosphere.

Other categories include best visitor attraction, best hotel, best guest accommodation, best self catering, best touring, camping and holiday park, best festivals & events (community), best conference venue, best eating out and best food producer.

The Visit Worcestershire Awards for Excellence celebrate the fantastic tourism businesses in the county; from family run hotels to fine dining restaurants, local food producers and unique visitor attractions. The Winner, Highly Commended and Commended from each category and county will be revealed at a grand Awards ceremony at Eastnor Castle on Tuesday, September 20, to which all finalists will be invited.
