A PENSIONER has been robbed after a woman offered to help him tidy his garden in Redditch yesterday (Thursday)

The victim was mowing his lawn on Napron Close at 3.30pm when the woman offered to help him sweep up. He accepted her help and she then asked to use his toilet.

When the 89-year-old saw the woman was in his bedroom he asked her to leave and it is believed she stole his wallet on her way out. She pushed passed the man on her way out causing injury to his hand elbow.

The woman was white, between 25 and 28-years-old with distinctive brown teeth.

Detective Sergeant Lisa Duncan said: “Contained in the wallet was a bank card belonging to the victim’s late wife. The card no longer works but is of huge sentimental value and the victim carries this with him everyday.

“I would ask that anyone who recognises the description of the woman to please get in touch. Likewise, if you witnessed anything suspicious in the area please contact police.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact the police on the non emergency 101 number or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
