Plenty of fun as Redi opens doors

Redditch Editorial 15th May, 2014 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

CREEPY crawlies, a bucking broncho and face painting entertained crowds at the official re-opening of the Redi Centre.

Now managed by Redditch Youth and Community Enterprise (RYCE), who have taken a six-month lease on the building, the South Street site is being used to offer activities ranging from youth groups to art clubs.

Henna tattoos, handmade jewellery and more was on offer during the day on Saturday (May 10) while Jestaminute Community Theatre group brought along part of their exhibition exploring life in Redditch from the start of the Second World War until 1964.

RYCE are hiring out rooms to community groups and organisations as well as running their own activities with the aim of making the centre, which was previously used to run educational courses and shut by Redditch Borough Council in 2010, viable enough to run in the long-term.
