THE PLIGHT of the bee has been raised thanks to a town centre exhibition.
Competition entries submitted by pupils from five schools have been on display at Redditch Library for the past two weeks.
Organised by Redditch Lions and involving Pitcheroak, Matchborough, Ridgeway, Ipsley and Birchensale, the competition had a total of 51 posters designed highlighting the impact of bees disappearing from the environment.
Friends, relatives and the general public only have until tomorrow (Saturday) to decide which poster should win a year’s Worcestershire Wildlife Trust membership and a monetary prize, while the winner’s school will get a £500 environmental garden installed.
A Lions spokesman said: “Redditch Lions have a commitment to encourage the young people of the area to get involved with their environment and this initiative with the WWT is a good way of doing so.
“The club has been so encourage by the enthusiasm and inventiveness of the local schools and their pupils, that it is already planning a similar competition for next year, the butterfly being a favourite candidate as the next subject.”
