THE police have launched an appeal to trace Andrew Dawson, 36, who absconded from HMP Hewell Redditch on Wednesday morning (April 27).

Dawson has served two years of a seven year four month sentence for customs offences.

He is described as white, approximately 6′ 2″ and of a large build. He has light brown hair, short facial hair and blue eyes.

Det. Sgt Stuart Hawkeswood said: “We are urging Mr Dawson to hand himself in to the authorities as soon as possible.

“Similarly, we would like to hear from any members of the public who may have information about his whereabouts.

“Please call police on the non-emergency number 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

“We would like remind the public that assisting someone in avoiding arrest could be a criminal offence which could result in prosecution.”
