Pretend gardener steals purse

Redditch Editorial 7th Jul, 2014 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

A MAN stole an elderly woman’s purse after pretending he would do some gardening work.

The thief tapped on the window of the victim’s Eathorpe Close home in Matchborough last Tuesday (July 1) afternoon.

He asked her if she wanted him to do some gardening work and she agreed before going to fetch her purse.

The woman left the purse on the window ledge and the man then leaned through the window and took an unknown amount of money before running off.

He is described as between 40 and 55, medium to stocky build and was wearing a cap with a fluorescent orange tabard.

Anyone with any information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
