PUPILS turned politicians as part of a democracy project at a borough school.
Sixth Form pupils from Pitcheroak School worked with the electoral services team at Redditch Borough Council to find out how the voting process works, hold a mock poll and elect a student council.
Candidates visited the Town Hall to interview councillors before they went to the polls themselves, having a full voting experience including pictorial ballot papers.
Coun John Fisher, responsible for democratic services, said: “We wanted to make the experience as real as possible and it’s great to see all the pupils, from the youngest to the oldest, using their vote – after all they are the voice of the future.
“I hope other people are inspired by them to use their vote at future elections.”
