PIRATES, builders. babies and superheroes all came together in this year’s wacky Alcester Pram Race.

On Sunday (May 29) eight teams took part in the annual race around the streets of the historic town, collecting tokens at pub and street checkpoints along the way and raising money for local charities.

Teams in their individually designed prams battled hard to be the first back at the finish-line to claim the coveted first place accolade.

Team Vicious Delicious were crowned the winners, with Trades Independent Traders coming in second and Alcester Town Netball Team claiming third place.

High Bailiff, Tim Forman and Town Crier, David Parks set entrants off for the three mile course from the town hall.

The popular event raised £346 for two local causes – the St Nicholas’ Church Restoration Fund and the Breakaway Foundation for sick children.

Organiser Marc Venables said: “It was one of the best races ever. It went perfectly – the weather helped and all the teams made a sterling effort on their costumes and on the race itself.”

Former pram race winner Marc would like to thank all the sponsors, Pathogen, Ats Films and Missy P Photography and everyone else who helped make the day a success.
