THE annual bandstand celebrations will be kick started again in June with a very regal affair in honour of the Queen’s official 90th birthday.
Next Saturday (June 11) the bandstand on Church Green will be the centre point for a number of musical acts, vintage stalls and themed activities.
The Glamophones will be headlining with jazz and swing songs from 1940’s to modern day. Also performing will be singer Sophie Thompson and four choirs from across the Redditch area; Primrose Hospice, Astwood Bank First School, Music in Motion and Redditch Gospel Choir.
Children’s activities will also be on offer as well as ‘picnic treats’ sponsored by local businesses.
Val Wilson, arts and events officer for Redditch Borough Council, said: “Pack your picnics, pop down and enjoy a fantastic afternoon of entertainment. The bandstand programme always brings real community spirit with it, with something for everyone to enjoy. We’re excited about the theme for this year’s June event and hope that visitors will enjoy a very British atmosphere.”
The event will run from 12noon to 4pm.
It is free to attend any of the bandstand events and the programme will take place once a month between June and September.
Outdoor performances are subject to change/cancellation due to adverse weather conditions.
