A MOONS Moat based company has been named Worcestershire’s Business of the Year.
Gemporia was given the title by Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce at its business awards evening held at Bank House Hotel in Bransford, Worcester last Thursday (July 10) as well as the Award for Best Use of Technology.
The gemstone jewellery firm, which also has its own shopping channel, impressed judges not only with its financial performance but its innovation as well.
Over the last year the six-year-old firm has focused on online growth with new launches including apps for Android and iphone as well as an upcoming Smart TV app, resulting in a 53 per cent increase in online purchases year-on-year.
Gemporia’s work with the Colourful Life Foundation, which focuses on the health and education of deprived communities, also won praise particularly the £130,000 raised through schemes such as an 18,000 mile bike ride and an expedition to the North Pole by company founder Steve Bennett.

To win this award is a great recognition of the hard work our team have put in to make this a reality.”
