REDDITCH athletes came away with bucketloads of medals when they competed in the Special Olympics Regional Athletics meeting recently at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham.
Eleven teams from across the West Midlands with two teams from Wales – 230 athletes in all – competed in a full programme of both track and field heats.
The event, head annually, was again organised by both Special Olympics Redditch and Worcestershire and proved to be a huge success.
The meeting was officially opened by local MP Karen Lumley, patron of Special Olympics Redditch, who said how proud she was to be there and to have been invited to open the event.
The medallists included Ben Leong, Richard Daykin, Graham Robb, Matthew Page, Neal Jobling, Shane Dennis, Kevin Holloway, Steven Cooper, Stacey Everill, Lauren Francis, Katy Spray, Jessica Hiles, Emmeline Rudge and Laurie Brooks.
