A GROUP of Alcester children have been getting crafty in the Olympic spirit and have created their own Olympic torches.
The Chatterbook’s group, which meets once a month at Alcester Library, got together in June to learn about the Olympics.
As well as making Olympic torches the group of five- to 11-year-olds played a game of ‘Mime the Olympic sport’ and discussed which Olympic events some of their favourite book characters would take part in.
Group leader Holly Kilminster said: “Reading for pleasure has proven to be more important to a child’s educational achievement than their family’s wealth or social class and it opens so many doors to new worlds. I hope we can help instill a lifelong love of reading in children.”
