REDDITCH residents are urged to report crimes to the police rather than simply posting on social media so that they can be properly investigated and prevented.
Several posts from members of the public relating to cats being shot with BB and pellet guns in various parts of Redditch have been circulating on social media throughout the summer months, but whilst people seem happy to share warnings and sightings of such incidents on Facebook, they are failing to report the incidents to the police.
A spokesperson for Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police said: “We urge anyone who has been the victim of crime to contact them so that incidents can be investigated thoroughly.
“This includes advice on police matters and to report crimes which have already happened, where there is no sign of an offender.”
“We cannot take any reports of crime via social media.”
People should call 101 in non-emergencies and crime can also be reported online at https://www.westmercia.police.uk/article/2366/Report-a-crime
