Redditch residents urged to spread some festive cheer

RESIDENTS are being urged to spread some festive cheer by donating toys and food to help families in need across the town.

The Acts of Kindness (AoK) charity, which also runs the town’s food bank, is launching its fourth annual appeal to help provide food hampers and brand new toys to families who find themselves in difficult financial circumstances this Christmas.

Last year AoK helped to feed over 600 people and provided toys to over 300 children.

Rev Robin Baker is leading the appeal for donations and is encouraging residents to send items to either The Oasis Charity Shop at Winyates, or Oasis Christian Centre, room two at the Ecumenical Centre (above the Halifax Building society).

Each of which are open Monday to Friday between 10am and 4pm.

Toy should be brand new and suitable for youngsters aged up to 16 while required food items include tinned ham, Christmas puddings and cakes, chocolate logs, box of chocolates and bars and selection boxes.

AoK will be operating the usual foodbank collection at Tesco’s on December 3 and 5 where all other food items can be donated.

The supermarket giant will donate 30 per cent in addition to the food items donated by the public.
