A RESTAURANT in Redditch has been awarded a commendation in a nationwide cuisine competition.

The Shahi Palace Indian restaurant was nominated for the annual Tiffin Cup competition, which aims to find the best South Asian restaurant in the country, by Redditch MP Karen Lumley.

The contest, now in its tenth year, offers MPs the opportunity to champion a business in their community and finalists are invited to a special cook-in at Bellamy’s Restaurant in Mayfair where the overall winner is chosen.

The restaurant on Hewell Road did not make the final however they were awarded a commendation in the competition which was presented by Mrs Lumley last week (July 22)

Karen said: “I love South Asian food as much as anybody and we are very lucky in Redditch that we have such a high quality venue as the Shahi.

“That is why it was such a pleasure to visit again and make this highly commended presentation.”

The aim of the competition is not only to applaud the quality of South Asian food in Britain but also to raise money for chosen charities and all proceeds this year will be donated to World Vision and WaterAid.
