A GROUP of 35 Redditch runners will be lacing up their trainers to run 40k in one day in aid of Acorns Children’s Hospice.
The town’s parkrun group will be taking on eight park run courses across the West Midlands, on September 5, in a bid to raise £500 for the cause. So far they have managed to collect £298 but need a little bit more.
The sites they will be visiting include Canon Hill, Brueton Park, Perry Hall, Walsall Arboretum, Kingsbury Water Park, Coventry, Leamington and Arrow Valley Lake.
Sally Insley, Acorn’s community fund-raising manager, said: “We really admire the dedication of the runners and wish them all the best as they take on this challenge.
“In order to carry on providing the specialist care and support to children and their families across the region, Acorns must raise close to £9million, every single year.
“We rely on fund-raising from the local community for the bulk of this amount, so we’re very grateful to everyone for their support.”
