Redditch school has life-saving machine installed

A LIFE-SAVING machine has been installed at a Redditch school thanks to the efforts of a group of super slimmers.

The Standard reported in May how the 250 members of Batchley, Church Hill and Ipsley Slimming World groups had raised almost £1,200 for Redditch Heart Safe by shedding a staggering 1,722.5lbs.

As a result of their efforts a defibrillator has now been purchased and donated to Batchley First School.

Charity founders Robert and Maggie Underwood said: “Staff have been familiarised with the use of the defibrillator and it is hoped it will never be used. 12 to 19 young adults sadly die each week in the UK in and around our schools as a result of a cardiac arrest and early CPR and the use of a defibrillator is the only way of restarting the heart back to its normal rhythm.”

Anyone wanting to donate or fund-raise for the charity should email [email protected] or call 07794 637073. Any sports club, gym, business, club or school wanting a defibrillator should also contact the charity.
