STAFF and students alike are jumping for joy at the town’s RSA Academy Arrow Vale after the school has been shortlisted for the TES Awards 2016.

The Green Sward Lane site has been named n the category of Creative School of the Year, an award which recognises schools that put creativity at the heart of their work.

Schools are assessed on their whole-school or cross-curricular approach to one or more projects which have seen a blossoming in creativity in their pupils.

Judges will be on the lookout for evidence that the approach has benefitted the entire school and led to creativity generating high academic success and innovation from young people.

Principal, Guy Shears, called the news a ‘huge honour’ and said it was a ‘reflection of the outstanding work by staff and students.

He added: “Creativity is crucial in enabling students to explore and develop skills to enhance their deep knowledge and understanding in all subjects, turning their powerful thinking into practical actions.

“Through creativity, students gain a real understanding of their subjects which leads to academic excellence, and prepares students for high success in future life.”

The team at RSA Academy Arrow Vale will have to wait until June to hear if they have won the overall award with the awards due to take place at the prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane on Friday June, 24.
