Redditch shoppers express delight at EU referendum results

In the wake of the national EU referendum results this morning, Redditch shoppers have spoken of their delight at the outcome.

Amanda Wright said: ” I think our children might have a better future now. I certainly hope they will. Everyone I know thought we were going to stay in but I’m really pleased with the outcome.”

Will Workman said: “I voted for this, so I am happy with the outcome. It’s good to see your vote actually counts. It will be interesting to see who takes over now that Cameron has resigned, but I think it will be better.

“I’m glad we have voted to come out. It should be good for the country and we will finally be able to get back on our own two feet.”

Yvonne Thacker said: “It is the best thing that ever happened because now at least we can get a new prime minister. We’re independent now and we’ve got more rights.”

Amelia Drake said: “I’m really pleased. We’ve been through so much – a recession, a housing crisis and everything else. It can’t be any worse out of the EU. Maybe this is our chance to improve things for ordinary people.

“The floodgates need to be closed – sometimes I feel like a stranger in my own town. There’s not enough good school places, not enough houses, and hopefully now this can change.”

Fiona Tylor explained: “The immigration issue was one of the main reasons I voted the way I did. If there are more limits imposed I hope there will be more opportunities for the local people in the area.”

Bill Haighway said: “I voted to come out so I’m delighted with the result, and it will be interesting to see what happens with the monetary side of things. It’s a worry for some people with mortgages but I think most of us will be better off.”
