Redditch samba’d on Saturday (September 17) as the town’s summer bandstand programme bowed out for another year in Brazilian style.
Hundreds enjoyed the Oya Batucuda samba band, a children’s fancy dress competition, and a range of stalls, international foods, and activities at the Bandstand Community Festival. It was the final date in Redditch Borough Council’s programme of free town centre events over the summer.
Leader of Redditch Borough Council Coun Bill Hartnett said: “We had a great Saturday. Before the festival started the Mayor Cllr Joe Baker and I both spoke at the Kerala Cultural Association’s community prize-giving, and on to the bandstand afterwards which was the last event of this season and is now linked to the fair and carnival.
“Rio came to Redditch, with a spectacular leader for the samba band on parade. It was a great day, with so many happy and smiling faces.”
