Roundabout calendar man named among dullest

THE MAN behind the Roundabouts of Redditch calendar has been named one of Britain’s dullest men.

Kevin Beresford, who created the quirky calendar twelve years ago and set up the UK Roundabout Appreciation Society, is one of 12 snooze-inducing men to be given the title.

The 62-year-old, from Astwood Bank, will grace the Dull Men’s Club calender as Mr January because of his love for everyday, ordinary and mundane things.

“I’m dull and proud.” he said.

“You can feel secure with a dull man and know he’s not going to run off with Lady Gaga.”

He added he first realised his love for what he calls the ‘islands on a sea of tarmac’ when he wanted to create a calendar with a difference for his employees.

“Famous artists have always focused on the mundane – look at Warhol’s Campbell’s Soup.” he said.

“You don’t have to be a dull person, you just have to have a dull interest or hobby.”

And he is not the only man from Worcestershire to be a pin-up star for slippers and pipe lovers, with post box photographer Peter Willis from Worcester and milk bottle collector Steve Wheeler from Malvern also making appearances in the calendar.

All twelve men will come face to face at the launch event tomorrow (Saturday) at The Cube in Birmingham.
