Search on for hidden heroes

Redditch Editorial 23rd Oct, 2014 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

NOMINATIONS are open for this year’s Pride of Redditch Awards.

The search for the borough’s hidden heroes was launched last week in a bid to recognise those people who make a difference to the town or the lives of residents but often get overlooked.

Rebecca Blake, a borough councillor and Labour’s Parliamentary spokeswoman for Redditch, is once again running the awards which are sponsored by The Redditch and Alcester Standard.

The awards were held for the first time last year and saw more than 60 people nominated. A panel of judges spent two days selecting 26 worthy individuals and groups to be recognised as the pride of the town.

The winners will be officially recognised as part of a Christmas celebration at South Redditch Social Club in Greenlands on Friday, December 12 at 7pm. The event will also raise money for the Spectrum Club, run by the Your Ideas project in Matchborough which supports young people on the autistic spectrum.

Nominations can be made by filling in the form on page six of this week’s paper and posting it to Pride of Redditch Awards, Redditch Standard, Webb House, Church Green East, B98 8BP or by email to [email protected] with the name of the person nominated, the reason for nominating them and your contact details, including a daytime telephone number.

Closing date for entries is 5pm on Friday, November 14.
