A SON has been stabbed while trying to defend his mother from raiders at their home in Redditch.

The pair heard loud banging on the front door of their home, on Beoley Road West, at about 11.15pm on November 9. The woman went towards the door and stood at the top of the stairs when three men ran up, pushed her to the floor and threatened her with a blade, demanding money.

Her son then got into a fight with one of the intruders and received a stab wound to his hand and injuries to his upper arms.

The three men stole a safe from the property before running out of the house onto Holloway Drive and used the underpass to get to their vehicle parked on Beoley Road East. The car is described a 52 plate silver Ford KA.

One of the burglars is believed to be about 6ft 2ins and was wearing a light grey or blue hooded top.

The other two men were shorter but all were wearing masks and gloves.

Police are urging anyone with information to call them on the non emergency 101 number or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111
