Special thanks as Billy goes to Hollywood

Redditch Editorial 20th Jun, 2015 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

A STUDLEY youngster will hold a ‘thank you’ concert next weekend to show his appreciation to those who are helping to send him to Hollywood to compete in a performing arts competition.

Billy Vale, aged 12, has organised the show, on June 27 at St Benedict’s Catholic High School in Alcester, to show his gratitude to those who are helping make his dream come true.

The youngster was selected in March to compete in The World Championships of Performing Arts – the ‘Olympics’ for aspiring peformers – between July 10 and 19.

But before jetting off, Billy was encouraged to raise £4,000 in sponsorship to cover costs for accommodation, uniform, competition classes, bootcamps and seminars.

At the start of his campaign Billy pledged to donate any cash raised over his target to Birmingham Children’s Hospital, a cause which is close to the Vale’s hearts.

The family lost George, Billy’s brother, in 2011 aged 14, from a brain tumour following a seven-year battle.

Billy said: “I am really pleased that as well as receiving such generous sponsorship, I have also been able to link it with raising more money for the Children’s Hospital in memory of George.”

Proceeds from the concert will be added towards the £673 that has already been donated to the hospital after Billy, who is one of the hospital’s ‘Hundred Heroes’.

The show, which starts at 7.30pm, will see performances by Billy himself along with musically talented friends whilst Alcester Musical Theatre Company will debut their forthcoming show Oliver!

Tickets are £2.50 at www.billyvale.wix.com/billyvale or by emailing [email protected]. To make a donation visit www.gofundme.com/rmy338z to make a donation.
