SPORTING stars at a borough school will be hoping to carry last year’s success into the new season.
The Holloway Lane school’s Year 8 boys rugby team will be defending the district title after gaining revenge on the Woodrush side that had beaten them the year before.
The Year 5 boys won all their games to seal the district football title, while the Year 8 boys were also district basketball champions after overcoming Birchensale in a close final. The Year 6 boys also put in a sterling performance to finish runners-up in the County Football Championships.
Not to be out done, the Year 8 girls were also celebrating after creating history by winning not only the district basketball tournament but they also reached the last 32 in the country in the national contest – the first middle school from Redditch to reach that stage of the competition.
Head of PE Matt Russell said: “We are again really proud of our wonderful students who continue to push the boundaries of success in a huge range of sports.”
