Spread some Christmas cheer with donations

RESIDENTS are being urged to spread some festive cheer by donating toys and food to help families in need across Redditch.

The Acts of Kindness charity, which also runs the town’s food bank, has launched the appeal for the third year running to help provide food hampers and brand new toys to families who find themselves in extremely difficult financial circumstances this Christmas.

Thanks to the generosity of the people of the borough last year 101 families had hampers, helping 192 children in some of the most deprived parts of the borough who were presented with £30 worth of brand new toys.

In the two years the appeal has been running almost 200 families and over 300 children have been supported.

The Entertainer toy store in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre is backing the appeal again by acting as a collection point and is also donating toys.

Rev Robin Baker, from Acts of Kindness, said: “The support we have had from the community and The Entertainer over the last two years has been amazing and if people can afford to be generous again this year then it will make a real difference to families experiencing tough times this Christmas.”

Moons Moat based DS Smith Packaging is also supporting the appeal by providing boxes for the hampers.

New toys can also be donated at Oasis Christian Centre in Plymouth Road and the Oasis shop in Winyates. Donations of Christmas food treats, wrapping paper and sticky tape are also needed.
