THE caretaker at St Bede’s Catholic Middle School was among those pounding the streets of Birmingham on Sunday (October 18).
Paul Dainty completed the Great Birmingham Run in aid of RP Fighting Blindness Charity – a cause close to his heart.
RP (Retinitis Pigmentosa) is not a widely recognised affliction but as Paul’s son-in-law – who also completed the race – suffers from it, Paul decided to dedicate his half marathon to the cause.
An inherited condition of the retina, RP eventually leads to the loss of vision and starts with difficulties regarding night time vision and the total loss of peripheral vision.
