RESIDENTS celebrated a Macmillan Day in the town’s Kingfisher Centre as part of the fight to conquer cancer.
During the event, the charity highlighted their partnership with Boots UK which has raised more than £10 million since its launch five years ago.
They combine their expertise to offer cancer information and support to sufferers and loved ones in their community.
Jackie Creed, a Boots Macmillan Information Pharmacist (BMIP) in the Kingfisher Centre, said: “I became a BMIP after my father-in-law was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
“My mother-in-law didn’t know where to turn to for support and I wanted to help make sure other people didn’t go through the same thing.”
Another of Jackie’s colleagues, Gill Casey, has been trained as a Boots Macmillan Beauty Adviser (BMBA).
Gill is able to provide tips on how to manage the visible side-effects of cancer.
