Street theatre is returning to Redditch

Redditch Editorial 24th Jul, 2016 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

GET set for an exciting summer of street theatre in Redditch later this month July.

This year the events will run from 11am until 3pm on July 26 at Church Green and July 29 at Winyates Shopping Centre.

At Church Green, visitors will get the chance to see ‘Stickleback Plasticus – Cats Choir’ using comedy, puppetry and song, and Matt Pang – Thingamabob, a show with an original, devised, ball slinging, self-exploding contraption.

Winyates Shopping Centre will see Angie Mack’s Hula Hoop show with everything from a 6ft hoop to a multi-hooping human tower. Visitors to Winyates can also join Tex Sylvester & Rodeo Rex for a rootin’ tootin’ Wild West Show from Bread and Butter Theatre Company – the Cowboys.

There will be children’s activities at both too, including face painting, drumming, animal mania (Winyates) and owls (Church Green).

Councillor Pat Witherspoon, whose portfolio covers leisure services, said: “Both of the Street Theatre events this year are full of comic acts and amazing feats to woo and wow the audiences. While the kids are on their holidays, keep them entertained and pop down to one of these fab events!”
