Success at the double for dancers

A PAIR of talented dancers raised the barre after winning places on a prestigious course.

Archy Hopkins and George Hooper-Rann, who both attend the Latham School of Dance in Studley, are now training each Saturday at the Elmhurst School of Dance in conjunction with the Birmingham Royal Ballet school.

The eight-year-olds will be eligible in three years to apply for the BRB boarding school which could pave the way for a career in ballet.

Their teacher Sue Latham said: “Right from day one I said both of them had talent. I am really proud and think they both want to take it up as a career as they show such aptitude.”

Further success was in store for Latham pupils when Chloe Nicol, aged 15, was accepted on the centre of advanced training programme with Birmingham Hippodrome and 13-year-old Katie Ward came third in the West Midlands Junior Ballet Championships.
