SUE Price-Whittle from the Cooking Company, Redditch has been named Evening Culture Sandwich Challenge UK winner at the Cafe Life Awards.
Sue, owner at The Cooking Company, Lakeside, Redditch prepared her sandwich and beverage pairing for judging before a live theatre audience at Lunch!, the contemporary food-to-go show in the Business Design Centre, Islington, London. Celebrity chef and cafe entrepreneur, Aldo Zilli, led the judging panel. Sue described her entry:
“My winning sandwich was a Sticky Pomegranate Lamb flatbread. A slow, roasted shoulder of lamb marinated in fresh pomegranate juice with fragrant North African spices such as cumin, garlic, cinnamon, lemon and rosewater served on Turkish flatbread with yogurt, fresh apple mint and dates. An accompanying glass of deep, red jammy Rioja and fresh green salad finishes the dish perfectly.”
The Cooking Company, based in Arrow Road North, Redditch provides event catering, private and corporate, throughout the West Midlands. A sister company of Rachel’s Cupcakes, they have both won many awards for their excellent sandwiches, savouries and cakes.
Sue, Rachel & Kate have just launched a new company BAKEMAIL which sends out slices of home-made cakes to you through your letterbox the very next day. Sue said:
“So many people have asked us to send our cakes to friends who live outside Redditch and the West Midlands so we are hoping this is one way for the rest of the UK to enjoy our baked goodies.”
