Take a bite out of Apple Day at Headless Cross

Redditch Editorial 25th Sep, 2015 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

SEASONAL fun and food is at the core of this year’s Apple Day on Headless Cross Green, with a jam-packed event to celebrate harvest in general and the humble apple in particular.

Next Saturday (October 3) will see the community orchard on Birchfield Road host an abundant array of craft stalls, local food, entertainment and apple related activities.

With apple juice and toffee apples at the ready, this year also sees organisers Headless Cross Community Orchard launch their own cider. Not to be outdone, any homemade cider-makers are encouraged to bring a bottle of their own to be tasted by a panel of judges.

The event runs from 11am until 3pm and is free. Local musicians will play throughout the day, plus local poet ‘Spoz’, with traditional entertainment from Shakespeare Mummers at 2pm and morris dancers Nancy Butterfly from 11am.

Fans of Redditch’s own apple, the Doddin, will also be able to order their own tree from Where Next’s stall.
